April and May Class Schedule 2008

We are offering our popular “Dinner? It’s in the Bag!” class that so many of you are requesting. In this class we share tips and ideas to help you start gathering meals to have on hand that your family will enjoy.
Polenta, The New Pasta! will introduce you to the basics of making fabulous polenta out of corn meal.
Herbs in the Kitchen Start your own herb garden this year and learn to grow, harvest and store fresh herbs. We’ll share tips and recipes to use herbs in your everyday cooking.
Let’s Eat Some Cake! Remember the cakes your Grandma used to make? This class will cover bundt, demi and layer cakes. A perfect class to do your own celebration cake to delight your family and friends.
“Stirrings” at The Wooden Spoon Spring has sprung at The Wooden Spoon! Come meet our staff, we’ll be doing cooking demos and tasting. Go home with a Take-n-Make. This is an open house forum, so pop in and bring a friend.
New to the Kitchen? Welcome “The Starting Place” The first steps to know how to get dinner on the table. Planning, skills and hope. This is a perfect class for those who are now in charge of their own kitchen: New Bride, Bride-to-be, College Student, Missionary, Etc.
New to the Kitchen? Welcome “Making it Fresh” Fresh Produce: Selecting, storing and preparing. How to include fresh produce in your menu plan. This class will have lots of tasting guaranteed to create enthusiasm in your kitchen.
We are also introducing two new series of courses:
“Bee Prepared” Skills for Cooking with Home Storage is a six session course of study. Classes include instruction, demonstration, tasting and take-n-makes focusing on Wheat, Oats, Rice and Pasta, Legumes, Powdered Milk, Oils and Seasonings.
Kids in the Kitchen is a four session course designed to introduce pre-teens ages 11-14 to the kitchen and food preparation. Classes include: Session 1: Common Sense Nutrition, Safety Tips, Cooking Terms, Prep Skills. Session 2: Preparing Brunch for Mother’s Day, Menu Plan, Recipes and Presentation. Session 3: Cooking Skills, Saute, Browning, Food Handling, Safety Tips, Weights and Measures. Session 4: Meal Planning, Shopping, Preparation.

Pre-registration is required for all classes. Come in or call to sign up for classes. School hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Cash and checks accepted.
